A man who contaminated candy with tranquilliser and distributed them to minors at a youth camp in the area has pleaded guilty to sexual offences against two boys who were nine and 10.

The defendant was detained after eight minors and a grown-up became sick at the facility in July.

The senior citizen, from Ruddington in Nottinghamshire, confessed to a total of 17 charges when he appeared at the judicial center on recently.

Nevertheless, he disputed one particular crime he was accused of, which was involving a young boy.

The defendant was kept in jail prior to a additional proceeding on 28 November.

'Treat game'

Mary Prior KC, prosecuting, detailed Ruben's offending to the court.

She said his those affected were under-privileged children who were attending a youth camp which he managed.

Ruben conducted a "treat game" with the children, Mrs Prior said, in which he would go into the children's bedrooms when they were settling down and ask them to ingest treats "as fast as possible".

She told the court Ruben had conducted this practice with the children "over an extended period", and minors had earlier experienced illness the next day.

She explained the defendant had been successful in rationalizing this repeatedly as the children being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his stepchild had worries in recently.

Mrs Prior KC added: "This year his stepchild had worries about the situation, justifiably.

"They chose" to have a look in the defendant's belongings."

Mrs Prior KC explained items including infant oil, petroleum jelly and injection devices were discovered, and his stepson notified the police about his concerns.

She said the defendant went on to play the "candy game" with six youngsters that evening - July 26th - and they were all ill the subsequent day.

"The police had not arrived by that point," she stated further.

The oversight body, the investigative body, had stated that it was examining law enforcement's management of the incident.

The legal representative explained the minors were unable to walk properly due to their condition, so the family member contacted the police once more.

She stated Ruben then conducted the "candy game" in a room of five youngsters.
